🎧 Why Smart People Feel Stupid

Stealth Dyslexia

Hey LEX-

You know what's crazy to me about neurodiversity is how we're the same kind of different.

From an emotional/ mental health standpoint, we've experienced a lot of the same stuff around feeling stupid, lacking self esteem, being anxious or feeling under-confident.

From Phd’s to folks barely making it out of high school, there’s an undeniable throughline connecting us all.

Yet, our presentations are very different across the spectrum.

Which is precisely why we need to rely on each other in a BIG, BIG way.

Because no one else gets it.

Collectively, neurotypicals can't pretend they’ve got our backs because if that were the case:

  • Why is it still so hard to get accomodations?

  • Why are dyslexics earning less than their counterparts?

  • Why are we still thought of as less intelligent or capable?

Some of this is on purpose, while much of it is ignorance, apathy or just not giving AF.

Neurodivergent needs, in many instances, haven’t made a big enough dent for enough of the world to stand up, take notice or care.

Either way, the bootstraps are ours to pull up because waiting for the world to catch up is no longer an option.

That's why I'm asking you to share the Powered by Dyslexia newsletter with EVERYONE!

  • More than 40 million US adults have dyslexia, but only 2 million are diagnosed

  • In the UK, 6 million adults are dyslexic

  • In Canada, it's 3 million

There are tens of millions unidentified dyslexics walking around thinking they're just not good at life and they're blaming themselves for it.

Invite them into our circle.

Share this newsletter with your network; there are dyslexics literally - everywhere!

We need to take care of our own.

Which starts here - like this.
