When the Label Becomes the Lens

Hey LEX-
For a long time, I was terrified of being wrong.
I'd spent years on my heels, treating every mistake like proof I was incapable.
Even before I knew I was dyslexic, I felt the anxiety of public humiliation; that moment when you don't know the answer and everyone's watching.
A lot of dyslexics carry this.
And instead of living, we protect ourselves by hiding.
Turns out, I was all wrong about being wrong.
It doesn't mean you're incapable or broken.
It's how you learn and one of the keys to growth.
What I loved about the Brat Pack documentary that inspired this week's piece was Andrew McCarthy's willingness to revisit his past with fresh eyes.
To admit he might have been looking at it from the wrong angle all along.
He faced it with curiosity and courage, and brings the viewer along for the ride.
Being wrong isn't a dead end, it's an opening.
And now, reading for your ears.
